TEKON IOT PLATFORM – HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR PROCESS?

How quickly could you look at an extensive table with data in text format and could you interpret data trends and abnormalities?

Tekon Electronics focus on the value of having a monitored production process. The data generated by an infrastructure can be used to improve that infrastructure itself. There are many times when the necessary improvements in a company to have less waste of raw materials or other resources, to generate more profit, liquidity or benefits, to optimize all phases of the production process, are in our own yard. Just need to be properly observed.

Tekon Iot Platform invests in versatility to adapt to several industries and ensure that it provides all the essential features to meet the needs of monitoring. The processing and visualization of data adds a new level of knowledge and business perspective.

Connectivity and security

The connectivity and security properties provided by the Tekon IoT Platform, as a tool connected via cloud, are the result of the use of reliable and collective protocols for numerous applications. MQTT and REST API protocols enable the aggregation of data from sensors of several references, making the Tekon IoT Platform a comprehensive tool and adaptable to applications with distinguishers processes.

HTTPS communication protocol ensure encryption, security and integrity when requesting and sending information to the cloud, as well as the server’s authenticity through digital certificates. MQTT protocol is featured by different levels of security that ensure data transmission in applications that support it. With the use of cloud to host data and the application structure, the access to the Tekon IoT Platform is possible through multiple devices, which can be in different locations. Through an internet connection and a browser, the user easily accesses their instance of the platform.

Data collection and visualization

The implementation of security and data transmission protocols ensure a reliable data collection. The conversion of data to a graphic aspect that is easy to interpret is one of the greatest aspects of the Tekon IoT Platform. It’s an extremely important asset because it allows to observe the behaviour of key indicators in real time. Observing the data graphically promotes its understanding and allows observing trends and outliers in the processes.

Datasources are the channel of data entry on the Tekon IoT Platform. It is through its implementation that data can be viewed and analysed, whether from Tekon Electronics or third-party devices.

Tekon IoT Platform dashboard

Figure 1 – Tekon IoT Platform dashboard and widgets example

Data visualization is performed by widgets, tools that reflect the data into graphs, indicators or single-value boards. All widgets have configurable attributes to adapt their implementation to the user’s needs. Dashboards allow the user to logically organize the information received through widgets. Inside the dashboards, user can move the widgets in a drag-and-drop functionality and define the graphic aspect of the dashboard according to his preference and relevance.

To understand the magnitude of data visualization, ask yourself this question: “How quickly could you look at an extensive table with data in text format and could you interpret data trends and abnormalities?”

Alarms and notifications

This feature is one of those that makes real-time monitoring a proven process. The security of an application does not imply having human resources always present to ensure that everything happens as intended. At Tekon IoT Platform, it is possible to configure alarms that focus on the activity of the monitoring system and the most striking criteria that are being monitored in order to virtually set up a security system that is intended to be continuously operational.

An essential part of this system are the notifications that trigger external actions to send emails and/or sms’s to the recipients of the alarms and communicate the event that triggered the alarm. This functionality allows the decision-making process to implement preventive or corrective measures to be more conscious and assertive, bringing over advantages that we will analyse at the end of this article.

Data export

With the constant flow of data, it is difficult to carry out a constant and exhaustive analysis of the process. Exporting data is an essential feature for future data analysis by users. The information gathered by the datasources can be exported to files with common formats for data analysis (PDF, XLSX or CSV), with a time window configurable by the user.

Within the formats mentioned above, XLSX and CSV are usually used in datasets that have been applied in the training and development of models that serve the implementation of Machine Learning procedures.

Datasources management

At Tekon IoT Platform it is possible to add, edit and delete the datasources present in its interface. The management of datasources can be done whenever it is necessary to add or remove devices to your application. The edition of datasources parameters can be done whenever it is justified to readjust the corresponding device within an application. The inclusion of third-party devices is supported by the Tekon IoT Platform, valuing its interoperability with several operators. Datasource management options are differentiated between Tekon Electronics and third-party devices.

Profile and user management

Each instance of the Tekon IoT Platform can be accessed by different users. User management makes it possible to outline and define user profiles with different permissions regarding interaction with the platform. Users can have permissions that go through restricted access, consult or full control of the several areas of the platform. The management of profiles and users prevents unauthorized access to information and possible errors caused by non-accredited users.
